Aultman
Foundation donates $30,000
to Stark State College for health scholarships
Aultman Foundation has
donated $30,000 to Stark State College to establish an endowment that
will award scholarships to students majoring in health programs.
“We are very grateful to
Aultman Foundation for providing scholarships to our students majoring
in health,” said Dr. John O’Donnell, president of Stark State College.
“Scholarships are critical to our students’ ability to begin and
complete college. They are helpful to students of all ages, those
entering college directly from high school as well as nontraditional
students who work, have homes and families and struggle to pay for
tuition and books.
“In addition to
scholarships, Aultman Foundation donated $50,000 last summer to fund a
nursing lab in the new Health Sciences Building currently under
construction on our campus,” O’Donnell said. “The new lab will enable
the College to expand capacity and improve nursing education, which will
benefit students, health care employers and the community.”
Bill Strohmenger, vice
president of the Aultman Health Institute and a member of the Stark
State Foundation Board, said Aultman’s goal is to help students achieve
their academic goals. “Aultman established the scholarships to assist
individual students in their pursuit of associate degrees in various
health programs. In doing so, we are also ensuring that the region
benefits from well-educated health professionals who can deliver the
quality health care all of us need.”
“The Stark State
Foundation appreciates Aultman’s gifts for scholarships and program
support,” said Stark State Foundation Board President Paul Feaser.
“Stark State students, today and in the future, will benefit from the
state-of-the-art nursing laboratory and scholarships to help them
achieve their goals of entering health professions.”
The Stark State
Foundation is a not-for-profit 501( c) 3 tax-exempt organization formed
in 1986 to seek, receive, and distribute funds, equipment, property and
other gifts for the benefit of the students of Stark State College.
